How to convert °F (Fahrenheit) to °C (Celsius)
To convert Fahrenheit to Celsius, subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9: °C = (°F − 32) × 5 ÷ 9. For example, 68°F − 32 = 36, and 36 × 5 ÷ 9 = 20°C. Going the other way, °F = °C × 9 ÷ 5 + 32. A quick mental shortcut is "subtract 30 and halve": 70°F is roughly 20°C. It is off by a degree or two, but fine for the weather.
Useful markers: water freezes at 32°F (0°C) and boils at 212°F (100°C), normal body temperature is about 98.6°F (37°C), and −40 is the same on both scales. UK oven recipes use Celsius, so an American "bake at 350°F" is about 177°C, usually rounded to 180°C (160°C fan).
