Hi, I'm Mahir Faysal. I'm training for blue-team and SOC analyst work: reading logs, spotting alerts that matter, and figuring out what actually happened. I still build for the web, so I understand the apps I'm learning to protect.
01 — About
I'm Mahir Faysal, from Bangladesh. Most of my hours now go into defensive security, the work a SOC analyst does when an alert fires and someone has to decide whether it's real.
I came here from web development. Building login forms, databases and small apps showed me where things usually go wrong, and that's exactly what I'm learning to watch for now.
I read the logs most people skip, follow the packets nobody watches, and write down what really happened, so the next attack gets caught sooner.
02 — Journey
HTML, CSS and JavaScript, then PHP and MySQL, then Next.js and TypeScript. Building apps made me curious how they break.
45+ hours. Networking, Linux and Windows, web security, cryptography and core security tools.
About 65 hours. Alert triage, Splunk SIEM, Wireshark, Snort IDS, phishing analysis and incident response.
About 19 hours. Prompt injection, data leakage and defending AI systems.
More hands-on log work and a junior SOC or security internship.
