How to record your voice
- Press Record and allow the microphone.
- Speak. The timer shows it's working, and you can pause and resume as often as you like.
- Press Stop to listen back, then download. Make as many takes as you need; each appears in the list until you close the page.
Formats
Recordings are captured with your browser's MediaRecorder, usually as WebM (Opus) in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, or MP4 (AAC) in Safari. They're compact and high quality, and play in VLC, most browsers and editors such as Audacity. Choose WAV for maximum compatibility, for example for uploading to a form or editing in older software. WAV files are uncompressed and about 10 times larger.
Tips for a clear recording
Record in a small room with soft furnishings, keep the mic 15–30 cm away and slightly to one side to avoid "pops", and switch off fans. Leave noise suppression on for speech. Turn it off for music, where it can cut out sustained notes. Check your setup first with the mic test.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a time limit?
No fixed limit. Long recordings use more memory, so download them as you go.
Where are my recordings stored?
Only in this browser tab. They are never uploaded and disappear when you close the page.
Can I get an MP3?
The recorder saves WebM/Opus (or MP4 on Safari) or WAV. Many free tools can convert those to MP3 if you need it.

More questions
Why does my browser ask for permission?
Microphone, camera and screen access always need your explicit permission. The browser shows a prompt, and you can revoke access at any time from the padlock icon in the address bar.
Is anything recorded or uploaded?
No. Audio and video are processed locally in your browser. If the tool lets you save a file, it is created on your device only.
It does not work on my iPhone – why?
Check that Safari (or your browser) has permission under Settings, that no other app is using the mic or camera, and that you are on iOS 14.3 or later. Screen recording in the browser is not supported on iOS.
Should I use headphones?
For tone, noise and binaural tools, yes: start at a low volume. Binaural beats only work with headphones because each ear needs a different tone.
