What this webcam test shows
After you allow access, the preview shows exactly what video apps will receive. Under it you'll see the actual resolution and frame rate the camera delivers, which is often lower than the box says in poor light, and the camera's name. Choose a higher resolution to see what your camera can really do. If you ask for 1080p and get 720p, the camera or its USB port doesn't support it.
Camera not working?
- "Permission denied": allow the camera via the icon in your address bar. On Windows, check Settings → Privacy → Camera. On a Mac, check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
- "Camera in use": close Zoom, Teams or other tabs that might be using it.
- Black image: check for a physical privacy shutter or a function key that turns the camera off.
- Grainy or dark: face a window or lamp. Webcams need much more light than our eyes do.
The video is processed only on your device and is never recorded or uploaded. Snapshots are saved straight to your downloads. Test your audio with the mic test.
