To encrypt a Windows laptop, open Settings > Privacy & security > Device encryption (Windows Home) or Manage BitLocker in Control Panel (Pro, Enterprise and Education) and turn it on. On a Mac, open System Settings > Privacy & Security > FileVault and click Turn On.
