How to Calculate ERA in Baseball (Including Partial Innings Like 6.2 IP)
To calculate ERA, multiply a pitcher's earned runs by 9 and divide by innings pitched: ERA = 9 × ER ÷ IP. With partial innings, convert the box-score number first, because .1 means one-third and .2 means two-thirds.
